I am getting an error message installing AdventureWorks

Hello all,

I am very new to SQL and in an attempt to learn it I am planning to use the tutorial on MS pages.

They recommend I install Adventureworks. So how do I do this? Instrcutions are non-existent or are very sketchy.

Here is where I am:
  • I have SQL express installed on my computer. I have it up an running.
  • I havve the "MS SQL Server Management Studio running.
  • I downloaded the AdventureWorks zipped files. I discovered a bunch of csv files and one file named "instawdb.sql".
  • I opened this file with the Management Studio.
  • Pressed "Excute" and got the following message:

I'm in the same boat. I did notice a few things though:

First, the default path name has the segment "...\MSSQL12.MSSQLSERVER...", but the Express version of SQL 2014 has instead "...\MSSQL12.MSSQLEXPRESS...".

Second, I checked the folder the path refers to and there is no .mdf file let alone the AdventureWorks2014.mdf or AdventureWorks2014_Data.mdf.

I also tried using the .bak download variant, and that also does not appear to work for similar reasons.

Very Respectfully,

Another SQL newb
