AdventureWorksDW2012_Data File is corrupt

description

There seams to be an issue with the AdventureWorksDW2012 Data file download. When I try to run this SQL statement:
CREATE DATABASE AdventureWorksDW2012 ON (FILENAME = 'E:\MSSQL11.SQL02\MSSQL\DATA\AdventureWorksDW2012_Data.mdf') FOR ATTACH_REBUILD_LOG;

This is the error I get:

Msg 5172, Level 16, State 15, Line 1The header for file 'E:\MSSQL11.SQL02\MSSQL\DATA\AdventureWorksDW2012_Data.mdf' is not a valid database file header. The FILE SIZE property is incorrect.

Thanks,Dan

The file size is 2Kb... this seems to be suspect...

The file I am getting is "AdventureWorksDW2012_Data.mdf". However, the file contain an error message.

There was an error downloading the file. It may have been deleted from the server.

I have attched the file for viewing... BTW: I can download every other file on this page.

Thanks,
Dan

This appears to have been a CodePlex issue. I downloaded the file and successfully ran this statement:

CREATE DATABASE AdventureWorksDW2012 ON (FILENAME = 'D:\DATA\AdventureWorksDW2012_Data.mdf') FOR ATTACH_REBUILD_LOG;

Thanks for reporting this issue,

Dan hi,

I have managed to download the file from the link you've kindly provided and the file size is more realistic (unzipped 201 MB), but I hit the same problem as above while attaching the .mdf to the database. Am I missing something here?

Hi again,
Sorry, I have re-named the file and it worked. Thank you very much Dan, this was very helpful, I appreciate it.
