Cannot install the 'AdventureWorks 2008 OLTP' database.

description

I have downloaded and executed "AdventureWorks2008_SR4.exe" and I am unable to install the 'AdventureWorks 2008 OLTP' database.

During the installation, I have confirmed that the option 'AdventureWorks OLTP 2008' is ticked, and the comment next to it says 'Ready to install'. My installation instance name is SQLSERVER2008, and I've used 'SQL Server Configuration Manager' to 'Enable FILESTREAM for Transact-SQL' and 'Enable FILESTREAM for file I/O streaming access' with the Windows share name as SQLSERVER2008.

I followed the steps at http://msftdbprodsamples.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=Database%20Installer%20Help using the 'SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) approach'.

I get this when i run the script:

*** Dropping Database

*** Enabling FileStream
Configuration option 'filestream access level' changed from 2 to 2. Run the RECONFIGURE statement to install.

Msg 1802, Level 16, State 1, Line 2

** An error was encountered during execution of batch. Exiting.

My database folders in the script are thus:
:setvar SqlSamplesDatabasePath "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\DATA\"
:setvar SqlSamplesSourceDataPath "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Samples\"

Im using SQL 2008 with Windows XP SP3. Im a 'Computer Administrator' when I login.

Can anyone help as I'm completely at a loss.

Jack.

Having the same issue and have been searching for a resolution for this for over 2hrs now to no avail. I finally was able to get the main database connected (the .bak file) however I don't no how to connect to the all of the csv sample files which come downloaded as a separate file. In the main query window when I type:

use [AdventureWorks2014]

exec sp_help;

I can see all my database tables below but if I try to do the same for any of the database tables, say:
exec sp_help BillOfMaterials; I get the following error:

Msg 15009, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_help, Line 79
The object 'BillOfMaterials' does not exist in database 'AdventureWorks2014' or is invalid for this operation.

In the Readme documentation that was included it says that, if necessary, that I may need to update the script path variable but I am at a loss as to how to do this? I have the express version installed, SQL Server Express 2014, so have substituted "MSSQL12.MSSQLSERVER" with "MSSQL12.SQLEXPRESS" to match up to my version.

a. If necessary, change the :setvar SqlSamplesDatabasePath variable to your SQL Server 2014 path. The default 64-bit path is C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL12.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\DATA. Use C:\Program Files (x86)... for 32-bit SQL Server 2014.
b. Change the :setvar SqlSamplesSourceDataPath variable to the path containing the .csv files.

Any guidance or even a link with explicit instructions to do this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
